Survey
We have to find a different way of addressing youth substance use. And we can't wait for somebody else to make the changes for us.
Planet Youth Nogojiwanong, brought to you by PYSUP, is a group of community partners in Peterborough City and County working to create a healthy, supportive environment where our youth feel a greater sense of belonging and connection.
We recognize change doesn’t happen overnight. This collaborative, community-driven approach focuses on everyone working together over the long term.
Together, we can build upon the great work already happening in our community to:
-
Work to braid together Indigenous worldviews and Western methodologies
-
Make the positive factors in our community stronger
-
Reduce the risk factors that prevent youth success
-
Improve connections to nature

Collecting and analyzing local data is key to the success of the Planet Youth initiative. Students at Peterborough high schools are invited to participate in a survey.
Youth, parents, and the community are all part of this work.
Together, we can build a Peterborough that empowers youth to live their best lives.
For Students
We need to hear from you! Your perspective, experience, and thoughts will help us build a community that better supports youth. This is your opportunity to be a leader in your school and local community.
We want to learn about your needs and how the community can support you more. The data gathered in this anonymous survey will help us:
1
Make our community stronger and healthier
2
Reduce the risk factors that prevent success
3
Create innovation solutions to support youth
For Parents
Since 2023, we have been working in local schools to connect with Peterborough youth. We want to learn more about their needs and how we can support them.

We're connectiong with them in a variety of ways:
School based initiatives
Youth Advisory Committee
Community Outreach
Partnerships with local organizations
And we're giving them more opportunities to share their ideas and experiences. The in-school survey is one way for us to learn from local youth.

You can find out more about the survey by watching the short video below.
Adolescence is a key time for healthy development. During this stage, teens often take more risks. Youth often try substances for a variety of reasons.

We owe it to young people to listen to and empower their voices in addressing their needs. As a community, we must wrap our arms around our youth to ensure they have the best start and the best shot possible.

We are following an internationally recognized evidence-based process to address youth substance use.
